Candidate for Mayor of Prague 14

Petr Zeman

"I want to bring the role of mayor back to its core purpose: making sure people in Prague 14 have a good life."

Our 14 Priorities

Prague 14 should be a place where people of every generation can live well — safe, accessible, clean, close-knit, and confident. These are the fourteen priorities that brought us together.

1 Cleanliness Prague 14 must have clean streets and well-kept public spaces we don't have to be ashamed of.

Cleanliness isn't a detail — it's a basic service the district owes its residents. We want better maintenance, faster response to problems, and clear accountability for the state of our streets, parks, and housing estates.

2 Parking Near the Metro Prague 14 should have resident parking zones near metro stations, so parking serves locals first.

Parking should serve, above all, the people who live here. Near metro stations and other overloaded areas, we need a fair system that protects residents.

3 Schools and Preschools Prague 14 must guarantee enough spots in schools and preschools that children actually look forward to.

Families shouldn't have to spend every year worrying about whether their child will get into a preschool or school near home. School capacity has to grow along with the district.

4 Green Spaces Prague 14 needs more trees and smarter care for green spaces to help us cope with heat, drought, and flash floods.

Not every lawn needs the same care. Around playgrounds, paths, and other heavily used spots, we want regular upkeep; elsewhere, the grass can grow longer. During hot, dry summers we don't want to mow on a fixed schedule and turn green space into dry straw. We'll also protect mature trees, create more shade, and improve rainwater retention.

5 New Development Prague 14 should require that new development bring real benefits to locals, not just new apartments.

New construction should improve its surroundings. New housing must come with schools, preschools, services, green space, playgrounds, and quality public space. We'll require developers to contribute concrete improvements to the neighborhood where they build.

6 Local Centers Prague 14 should build lively local centers, not just be a dormitory town on the edge of Prague.

Prague 14 needs vibrant places where people can run errands, meet neighbors, grab a coffee, see a doctor, enjoy culture, or shop — without having to cross half the city.

7 Walking and Cycling Prague 14 should improve sidewalks, crossings, and bike connections so it's easy and safe to walk and bike here.

Safe movement for children, seniors, parents with strollers, and people with limited mobility must be a given. We also want to fill in missing bike connections so individual routes form a real network.

8 Public Transit Prague 14 should have quality public transit and better connections between its neighborhoods.

The metro is a big advantage, but it isn't enough. We need better connections between neighborhoods, links to trains, trams, and buses, safe routes to stops, and sensible transit solutions in areas slated for development.

9 Safety Prague 14 should be safe day and night, wherever you are.

Safety can't stop at the main streets. We want to prevent problems before they start, quickly address spots where people feel unsafe, and better coordinate the work of police, municipal police, social services, and other organizations.

10 Leisure and Recreation Prague 14 should have accessible playgrounds, sports facilities, and places for culture and leisure for children and adults alike.

We want Prague 14 to be a place to play sports, create, experience culture, meet people, and spend time outdoors. A good range of leisure options shouldn't depend on what people can afford.

11 Social Policy Prague 14 should look after seniors, families, and people going through a hard time in life.

The district should be a source of support, not an office that leaves people lost in the system. Social and health services, accessible information, and a human approach must be the standard.

12 Open Communication Prague 14 should communicate with residents openly, clearly, and in a timely way, and give them a real say in important decisions.

People deserve to know what's planned for their neighborhood, why it's happening, and when they can still influence the outcome. When Prague 14 Town Hall asks for their input, it must also explain what it did with it.

13 Responsible Budgeting Prague 14 should manage its finances responsibly and invest in both development and the upkeep of what we already have.

Every crown must deliver a real result for residents. Alongside new projects, we have to plan for repairs and long-term upkeep of schools, streets, buildings, green space, and other district property.

14 Pride in Prague 14 Prague 14 should be a district we can be proud of.

Prague 14 has enormous potential. We want to make it a place where people don't feel overlooked, where every neighborhood has its own value, and where Prague 14 Town Hall works for residents — not for itself.

Why does it make sense for Praha 14 SOBĚ, the Pirates, and the Greens to team up?

Joining forces as three groups is a natural response to the current situation at Prague 14 Town Hall, where a grand coalition of ODS and ANO holds power. If we want to offer residents a strong, capable alternative, this alliance is simply the logical step. We're already able to pull in the same direction, even before the election.

What's the main change you want to push through?

I want to bring the role of mayor back to its core purpose: making sure people in Prague 14 have a good life. If I succeed, I won't blame the City of Prague, a lack of funding, or coalition partners. My goal is to work for Prague 14, take personal responsibility for decisions, and genuinely make our district better.

What kind of Prague 14 do you want to offer people?

To everyone who calls Prague 14 home, I want to offer a district we can be proud of — clean, safe, and well maintained. The key is a radical change in how Prague 14 Town Hall operates: everyday problems and resident concerns won't pile up in offices, but will be handled continuously, quickly, and effectively.

Who I am

My name is Jaroslav Verner. I'm a lawyer, a legislative drafter, and a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Law of Charles University — but I'm also, for instance, a passionate athlete, and above all a resident of Prague 14, specifically Černý Most, where I've lived for more than 26 years. I went to preschool and school here, and I got my start in floorball here. Simply put, this is home.

What I'd like to focus on as a councilor

My motto, broadly speaking, is "Prague 14 — a place for a good life," so my primary focus is living up to that motto. If I need to be more specific, it's mainly public finances, plus culture, sports, and leisure, which I already work on today.

Why I believe in our coalition

MY pro Prahu 14 is the only group offering a real, constructive alternative to the current Prague 14 district leadership — because everyone else makes up that leadership. This alliance makes sense because it brought together the best of the Pirates, Praha 14 SOBĚ, and the Greens. We built a team that pulls together, and instead of competing for the same voters, we can focus on bringing real change to the people of Prague 14 and helping improve life here.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

Prague 14 has been my home for almost seventeen years, and I live in Hloubětín. I work as a digitalization and IT consultant and project manager. I stay involved locally as a councilor and a member of committees and commissions. Co-leading and volunteering at the Klubíčko family center taught me the concrete needs of children and parents. I love the area around the Rokytka stream and Čihadla, where people of every generation meet and nature is just steps from home.

What I want to change in Prague 14

I want to improve support for families with children and seniors, expand access to social and community services, and improve safety in public spaces. I also care about creating places and activities where neighbors can meet. Prague 14 Town Hall should actively communicate with residents and give them a real say in decisions about their neighborhood.

Why I'm running

I'm running because I want to help turn good local ideas and energy into concrete change. I see cross-party cooperation as natural in local politics. Each of us brings different experience, and together we can do more for Prague 14.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I've had a strong connection to Prague 14 since birth. I've long taken an active interest in the district, and in the last term I served as deputy mayor responsible for transportation.

What I want to focus on

I'd like Prague 14 to be among the best-run districts — modern and efficiently managed. My main focus is transportation, the environment, and sensible urban development that doesn't harm residents' quality of life.

Why this coalition

I believe in our alliance because it brings together hardworking, capable, experienced people with the energy to make change. We share most of our key program goals, and a strong team of individuals can be the foundation of quality leadership for Prague 14.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I've lived in Černý Most for ten years and see it as a good place to live — one that still has room to improve. I work as an attorney specializing in criminal and family law, and I actively advocate for human rights. When I have any free time left over, I enjoy reading or cheering at a soccer match.

What I want to focus on

As an opposition councilor in Prague 14, I sit on the Safety Committee and the Committee for Sustainable Development. If elected, I'd like to keep working on safety, community life, and support for sustainable initiatives — including gentler green-space maintenance during droughts and restoring the community garden at Plechárna that the current coalition shut down.

Why this coalition

I believe in this coalition because it makes sense not to split our strength when we share the same vision for Prague 14. We've already worked together across the opposition, we know each other, and we know what to expect from working together — so I believe this alliance can bring real change to Prague 14.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I've lived in Černý Most for twenty-five years and have two grown children. I work as a hairdresser, and as a councilor I also serve on the Audit Committee and the Safety Committee. My favorite spot is U Čeňku Park and its surroundings. You might be surprised to learn I'm also professionally certified for domestic and international truck freight transport.

What I want to change in Prague 14

On the council, I want to focus mainly on cleanliness and safety. I want to improve neglected spots and help people feel safer in Prague 14.

Why I'm running

I'm running because I believe my work can shape what life is like in Prague 14. I want to continue contributing to improvements in our district as a councilor.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

My family and I have lived in Prague 14 for over ten years. My daughters go to preschool and elementary school here. I work at a university — I studied geography along with a teaching qualification, and I also studied media studies and applied ethics. I'm a scout, I love to travel, and I've long focused on education, now also within the Pirate Party's policy team.

What I want to focus on

On the council, I want to focus on education. The district is the founding body for preschools and elementary schools and plays a major role in choosing their leadership. Ensuring enough spots for children is only the first — if essential — step. Schools also need to be good and help every child reach their potential. Kids should look forward to going to a good school. A quality school is a district's calling card: it attracts families to settle permanently and helps children succeed in life.

Why this coalition

We — the Pirates, Praha 14 SOBĚ, and the Greens — agreed to run together well before the election, because we see Prague 14 in a similar way, and our differences are minor. Politics is the craft of agreement — that's what we're offering voters, along with a strong slate. We believe Prague 14 can work better than it does today.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I moved to Hostavice in 2009. I was drawn by the location and the nearby railway, which was being modernized at the time. I work at the Prague Public Transit Company, where I handle tram track reconstruction and help give public transit priority, especially at traffic lights. Occasionally I drive a tram myself. My favorite spot in Prague 14 is the embankment between Jahodnice and the Štěrboholská radiála — this man-made hill offers a great view.

What I want to change in Prague 14

I want to improve transit service to the southern part of Černý Most and push for high-capacity, sustainable transit to Hutě. Specifically, I support a tram line along Ocelková Street to Černý Most and on to Hutě. In pushing for it, I want to put my experience with tram tracks and how public transit works to use.

Why I'm running

I'm running because the important things need to actually get done. I want to put my professional experience to work improving public transit where I live.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I work as a manager in the cultural sector. I was born in Prague 14 and have known the district all my life. I look forward to continuing to work for Prague 14.

What I'd like to change in Prague 14

Until now I've focused on urban development and the environment as a member of the committee of the same name at our district. Unfortunately, many projects fail to respect the character of our district, and alongside the environmental angle, it's important to make sure development happens thoughtfully and with a real concept — not haphazardly.

Why I believe in this coalition

The coalition has real depth of talent, which guarantees that every voice will be heard and that the coalition will also govern by those same principles. Each party emphasizes slightly different areas of life, which is why our joint effort ultimately makes a great deal of practical, positive sense.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I've lived in Prague 14 since childhood — I went to preschool and elementary school here. I live in Černý Most and work as an analyst and real estate market consultant. I'm well versed in urban development, public space, strategic district management, and public engagement. I've lived in New Zealand and Ireland, and I devoted both of my academic theses to Prague 14. My favorite spot is the dry retention basin below Čihadla, where you can almost feel like you're out in the wilderness.

What I want to change in Prague 14

I want to improve how Prague 14 Town Hall communicates with residents. Today, in my view, it comes across as fragmented, and important information often reaches people late or not at all. I want to unify communication across the district and its organizations so people can easily find out what's planned in their area and how they can influence upcoming changes.

Why I'm running

I believe Prague 14 has the potential to be one of the best addresses on the east side of Prague. To get there, it needs a clear vision and capable people leading Prague 14 Town Hall. I'm running because I want to contribute my experience to its development.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am and my connection to Prague 14

I've lived in Prague 14 for over two years, and since September I've been launching the new FOuRTEEN youth center in Hloubětín full-time. As coordinator, I also lead the local Student Council and connect young communities in the area.

What I want to focus on as a councilor

Transparency, participation, and openness are principles I live by every day. I believe politics should improve people's everyday lives and create room for open debate and real solutions.

Why I believe in the MY pro Prahu 14 coalition

Joining our three parties makes sense. We share a vision of Prague 14 Town Hall that hides nothing from people, gives them a real voice, and turns plans on paper into reality. With this great team, I want to get things moving in Prague 14.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am

I live with my family in Rajská zahrada and work as a technical director. I've spent twenty years in company management. In Prague 14, I work on finances on a committee and oversee the operations of the Property Management company as a member of its supervisory board. As chair of my homeowners' association, I managed the renovation and insulation of our apartment building using the Green Savings grant program, so I also know building management from hands-on experience. My favorite spot in Prague 14 is around the ponds.

What I want to change in Prague 14

I want to establish regular, dedicated funding for repairing district property — essentially a repair fund. Alongside new investments, we need to consistently maintain municipal apartments and public infrastructure. In my view, the current pace of repairs isn't enough, and the available funds are limited.

Why I'm running

I'm running because I want to help improve how Prague 14's property is maintained and how local government functions. I want to apply my experience running companies and managing an apartment building to finding workable solutions for our district.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

Who I am and my connection to Prague 14

I'm a dad to a little girl, a mortgage specialist, and a resident of Černý Most. I live in Prague 14 with my family and our dog — we go for walks here every day, and I see both its strengths and where it falls short for family life.

What I want to change and focus on

I want to bring the district closer to its residents and make sure it's welcoming to disadvantaged neighbors and families with children. On the council, I'll put my financial background to good use for efficient, fair budgeting.

Why I believe in our coalition

The MY pro Prahu 14 coalition brings together people and parties who share similar values. There's no point splitting votes where we share a common goal: a modern, safe, welcoming home for every generation.

Have a question? Feel free to email me.

My connection to Prague 14

My family and I moved to Prague 14 more than 15 years ago, and even though we later lived abroad for a few years, we never planned to change our permanent address. My husband and I are both "housing-estate kids," and I think life on a housing estate that's a short walk from both the forest and the metro is just about ideal.

My profession and my place in politics

I'm a neuroscientist by profession, and ever since I got the chance to start my own lab at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, I've been doing my dream job. My colleagues and my family will confirm I'm a workaholic, but at work I try to live by the motto that "a team is only as good as its weakest member." That view feels natural to me outside academia too. I'm convinced we have to look after the more vulnerable members of our society, not only for human reasons but for entirely practical ones as well. That's why I valued the chance, in the last term, to take part in the work of the Committee for Social Affairs, Health, and Community Planning in Prague 14.

Why this coalition

The principles, interests, and priorities that unite our three parties are far stronger than whatever might divide us. People don't need to agree on everything to do great work together, and I feel real energy in this coalition — energy with the potential to genuinely make our district better.
